In short
We want everybody to be able to shop with us, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control. This statement explains the standard we are working to (WCAG 2.2 level AA), where we have got to so far, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Our commitment
Faiza's Boutique is a small shop with a big range, and we want the same range to be available to everyone. Accessibility is not a box we tick once. It is something we check as we add products and pages.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. WCAG 2.2 is published by the World Wide Web Consortium and became a W3C Recommendation on 12 December 2024. It is the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility, and level AA is the level most commonly required by law and policy around the world.
We are working to the four WCAG principles: content should be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.
Where we are now
Our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. We are being straight with you about that rather than claiming full conformance we cannot back up.
This is a self-assessment based on our own review of the site as we build it. We have not yet commissioned an independent accessibility audit, and we will update this statement when we do.
The core shopping journey — browsing, adding to basket, checkout and payment — is built with accessible markup, labelled form fields, keyboard-operable controls, visible focus states and text that can be resized without breaking the layout.
What we know still needs work
These are the gaps we are aware of. We would rather list them than pretend they do not exist.
- Some product photographs are older images with text, prices or watermarks baked into the picture. Text inside an image cannot be resized or read aloud properly by a screen reader. We are retaking these as we go.
- Alternative text on product images is not yet complete for every item. Where an image shows something that is not described in the product title or description, the description should carry that information instead.
- A small number of older pages and documents may not be fully structured with headings, lists and landmarks. This affects how easy they are to navigate with a screen reader.
- Any downloadable or printable documents, such as care or fabric notes, may not be fully tagged for accessibility. If you need one of these in another format, ask us and we will send it as plain text, large print, or read it to you over the phone.
- Colour is not used on its own to carry meaning in our interface — for example, a size being out of stock is shown with words as well as colour — but we are still checking this across every component, including error messages.
- The payment page is operated by Stripe, not by us. Stripe publishes its own accessibility information and we cannot change its page. If you have any difficulty paying, call or message us on 089 950 8906 and we will take your order and payment another way.
- Ordering by WhatsApp uses a third-party service whose accessibility is outside our control. If WhatsApp does not work for you, email Faizaboutique110@gmail.com or phone us instead — we will always take an order over the phone.
- We currently publish very little video. If we add video, we will caption it.

The European Accessibility Act is Directive (EU) 2019/882. It became law in Ireland on 28 June 2025 and is implemented here by S.I. No. 636/2023. It sets accessibility requirements for a list of products and services, and e-commerce is one of the services it covers.
There is a specific exemption for small businesses. Regulation 5(4) of S.I. No. 636/2023 provides that the service accessibility requirements do not apply to a service provided by a microenterprise. A microenterprise is defined in the same regulations as an enterprise which employs fewer than 10 persons and which has an annual turnover not exceeding €2 million or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding €2 million. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, which regulates the Act in Ireland, states the position plainly in its own guidance for microenterprises: the requirements and obligations of the European Accessibility Act do not apply to microenterprises providing services.
Faiza's Boutique is a small, owner-run business well inside those thresholds, so we fall within that exemption for the services we provide, including this website and our online shop. The garments we sell are not among the products the Act covers.
We are telling you this not as an excuse but so the statement is accurate. We are choosing to work towards WCAG 2.2 level AA anyway, because it is the right thing to do and because it makes the shop work better for everybody. If we grow past the microenterprise threshold, the exemption stops applying and we will be legally obliged to meet the requirements in full — by which point we intend to already be there.

Tell us if something gets in your way
If any part of this website, or of shopping with us, is difficult or impossible for you, please tell us. We would much rather hear about it than have you give up on an order.
Email Faizaboutique110@gmail.com. Call or message 089 950 8906, from outside Ireland +353 89 950 8906. Or come in and speak to us at Faiza's Boutique, Nimra Halal Foods, 89/90 Parnell Street, Dublin 1, D01 K302.
Please tell us which page or which step caused the problem, what you were trying to do, and what technology you were using if you know. That is enough for us to investigate.
What we will do: we will acknowledge your message, look into it, and tell you what we found. We aim to reply within five working days. If we cannot fix the problem immediately, we will offer you another way to complete what you were doing — taking your order over the phone is almost always possible.
We can also provide information from this site in other formats on request: large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone. Just ask.
If you are not satisfied
Start with us. We would like the chance to put it right.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can raise the matter with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, which is the market surveillance authority for the European Accessibility Act in Ireland and the compliance authority for e-commerce. The CCPC publishes accessibility information for consumers and a route for reporting concerns. Its consumer helpline is (01) 402 5555 and its website is ccpc.ie.
The CCPC is also the body to contact if you believe a business is claiming an exemption it is not entitled to, or is not meeting obligations that apply to it.
How we check the site
We check new pages and components as we build them, using keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom up to 200%, and automated checks for things like colour contrast, missing labels and heading order. Automated tools catch only part of the picture, so we also read pages with a screen reader.
When we commission an independent audit we will say so here and publish the outcome, including anything it finds that we have not yet fixed.
